Musical Images Of Indiana Interactive Videoconference
Throughout this 45 minute program, students will create lyrics to describe their own hometown and state. Students will actively engage in an examination of songs about Indiana and Hoosier songwriters from the 19th Century to present day. Has Indiana ever been misrepresented in music videos or song lyrics? What geographic regions of Indiana have been overemphasized and why? How do lyricists incorporate the use of metaphor, simile, and hyperbole to strengthen their song?

The program’s arts-integrated learning aligns to the Indiana Department of Education standards for Language Arts, Social Studies, and Music. This program is available for free to any school in Indiana. It is designed for 4th grade but can be adapted for other grades.

For more information and to schedule a videoconference for your school, contact Julia Shildmyer-Heighway at 317.819.3516 or jheighway@ TheCenterPresents.org.

The Indiana Music Series is presented by CNO Financial Group and performances are part of the Center Presents season supported by Allied Solutions.
