The Power of Music
Music can enliven the brain and bring joy to people of all abilities, even those with memory problems. The healing power of music is becoming increasingly apparent in numerous studies, as well as in varied practical applications. A comprehensive article in the March/April 2015 issue of Scientific American Mind, “The Healing Power of Music,” describes the results of research, along with specific examples of music’s impact on the brain. The greatest benefits from music therapy- cognitive, emotional and social- come from intentional engagement with music. We are proud to offer our Perfect Harmony senior programming each month at the Songbook Foundation.

Here's what participants are saying about Perfect Harmony!

"Just wanted to again thank each of you for providing an inspiring & wonderful visit for our seniors of Summer Trace last week! Each and every one of them enjoyed it, and I heard them touting it afterwards to many who did not attend. Personally, I think it's one of the best things we've done together! I/we thank you again for a job very well done!"
Joan Wolfe, Activities Director at Summer Trace Retirement Community

"My mother isn't happy very often, but she is always happy when we leave the monthly Perfect Harmony sessions. I cannot thank you enough."
