2016-17 is a Season of Discovery!

The Center for the Performing Arts has something to discover season after season. Share your discoveries at the Center’s welcome table in the lobby and via social media by using #MyDiscovery

Jason and Traci Dossett shared their #DiscoveryStory with us. See more below and stay tuned all season to hear what people are discovering at the Center!

How have you been involved at the Center in the last five seasons?
We started our involvement with the Center at the Grand Opening Gala in 2011. We knew at that point this was going to be a very special place! Since then Traci has served on the Board of Directors, and is just wrapping up her last term as the Center's Treasurer.

What have you discovered at the Center?
As a family, we have discovered so many amazing and diverse groups! Our boys loved Diavolo and Drumline Live. Jason and I discovered that the Palladium is absolutely a fantastic fit for standup comedy with Indianapolis Colts Punter, Pat McAfee!

What has been your favorite memory at the Center?
There are so many memorable performances and moments for both of us. As a mom, my favorite memories have been sharing the arts with our two children: watching our youngest son 'pretend play' the piano during a Wynton Marsalis performance and sharing an evening with my oldest son listening to the legendary Diana Ross. These moments are #Priceless.

How have you been most inspired while on campus at the Center?
Seeing the campus really come to life when it's filled with school-aged children has really inspired us to bring our boys to performances. There's something so magical about their enthusiasm and wonder at what they're hearing and seeing.

What would you invite your friends to discover for themselves?
We love bringing friends with us to performances. If they've never been to the hall, they are always amazed by its beauty, and despite its grandeur, its intimacy. We love hearing of the new acts they've discovered on their return trips...often performers they hadn't heard of but took a chance on and loved!

Tell us why Create Your Own Series works for you and which performances you chose for your subscription?

We love the Create Your Own Series mostly because it allows us to experience something from each genre and to include guests that have different artistic tastes. It's also wonderful to be able to pick family performances and some that are perfect for a date night. This season we chose the Shaolin Warriors, the Home Free holiday concert, the Reduced Shakespeare Company, the Blues Brothers Revue, and the Songbook Academy Finals. And we always add shows throughout the season.

What are you excited to discover next season?

We are so excited every year for the Great American Songbook Foundation’s Songbook Academy Finals. Seeing these amazingly talented high-school singers perform is wonderful. We look forward to discovering who the next Songbook Youth Ambassador will be!
