The Center Presents
ROYAL DRUMMERS AND DANCERS OF BURUNDI
at the Palladium
Friday, November 2, 2012, at 8pm
The ultimate African drum experience! One of the greatest percussion ensembles in the world, the Royal Drummers and Dancers of Burundi have passed down their traditions and techniques to each generation for centuries. With the thunderous sound of the drums combined with breathtakingly graceful yet athletic dances, the Drummers channel the pulsating rhythmic energy and creative spirit of a nation. Their “Burundi beat” has influenced musicians from Joni Mitchell in the 70s to Adam Ant in the 80s. Of their performance the UK’s Voice said: “The stagecraft in itself was captivating, and this together with the vigor, gaiety and sheer exuberance of the evening, guarantees that their future visits will be sell-outs.”
