The IWS pays tribute to the March King, John Philip Sousa, with this concert styled after those played by the Sousa Band as they travelled the country. Enjoy exciting classical and serious works interspersed with Sousa’s own marches, along with trumpet and soprano soloists, just as you would have experienced at a Sousa concert.

About Brian Hoover
Brian Hoover is a freelance musician and private lesson teacher in the Indianapolis area. He teaches lessons primarily in the Lawrence Township school system and has over 45 students in his trumpet studio. In 2010, Brian joined the Marian University staff as a trumpet professor.
Mr. Hoover earned a Bachelor of Music Education degree from the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music in 1983 studying trumpet with the world renowned professor William Adam.
He currently is the principal trumpet for the Indiana Wind Symphony, Hendricks Symphony Orchestra, and St. Luke‘s Orchestra. He also has played in the Carmel Symphony Orchestra, Lafayette Symphony Orchestra, Philharmonic of Indianapolis, and recorded for Hal Leonard. He performs with the Carriage House Brass Quintet, Cathedral Brass Quintet, Blue Skies Big Band, Indianapolis Ceremonial Brass Quintet, and Civic Theater.
About Jessamyn Anderson
Jessamyn Anderson, a Carmel native and graduate of Carmel High School, is pursuing a Bachelor of Music in classical voice at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, where she was awarded the Dean's Talent Scholarship and Herbert Presidential Scholarship. Jessamyn was the overall winner of the Indiana State Fair Talent Show in 2008 and has won numerous awards for her solo work. She has sung for audiences such as the Boy Scouts of America, the Governor of Indiana, and many other community leaders.
