Dance Discovery Class: Hip-Hop

Wednesday, November 15 | 6:30pm-8:30pm
at the Tarkington Rooms 123 & 124

During the early 70s in NYC, music and movement came together to form a new underground art, Hip-Hop Dance. Deeply rooted in African-American historical, social, cultural contexts, early hip-hop moves included uprock, breaking, locking, roboting, boogaloo, and popping. A very energetic form of dancing, hip-hop is unique because it allows dancers to add their own moves and personalities. Today, it is danced by all ages and ethnicities.

During this session, we’ll learn some high energy hip-hop techniques and moves.

No partner or previous dancing experience necessary to register.
Suggested for ages 12 through adult.

Appropriate Attire

Clothing that is comfortable to move in and dance shoes if you have them. If not, non-rubber soled shoes. No sandals.
